Technically speaking, I haven't eaten this food yet. But I double-checked the rules, and I didn't see anything about actually having to eat the food. More importantly, I think these are cool, and they're food, and I picked them today.
I declare persimmon season in session!
Once again, I'm supposed to be lesson planning or something, so I'm too
lazy busy to set up better lighting, etc. You know what I love about this whole thing? Not only am I clever enough to discover and harvest free persimmons, but I use Rosie's (unused) poop bags to gather them. I am nothing if not practical, and who's gonna steal persimmons from a poop bag? (Rosie, that's who.)
If you haven't stopped by before,
here's the low-down on my earliest persimmon adventures three years ago. If you have been present for previous persimmon posts, I'm excited to share that I've found the other tree! (If you'd gone back and read that link, you'd know you need two for cross-pollination.) It's quite close to the one I've been picking from, but in the woodline, so it's a bit hidden. However, it gave itself away the other day by dropping fruit on the path. Ha! Gotcha! Unfortunately, it's quite tall and narrow, and the fruit must be at least 20 feet up.
Oh, did you want something for perspective on these ripely delicious fruits? How about Gumby and friend?
Pokey*, have you been working out? Myyyy...
Gumby's into a little weightlifting himself.

Don't tell Gumby, but that's not actually Pokey. It's a Breyer Horse, a Hanoverian if you're into that sort of thing. Pokey had an appointment for a pedicure he didn't want to tell Gumby about. It's complicated.
Love the NIAFPXWSS...whatever...thing! Love Gumby and Pokey and the Hanoverian horse! And I especially love the persimmons - how cool is it to be able to go out into the world and find free food?
ReplyDeleteAnd your trick of using (unused - I'm so glad you said that!) poop bags? Brilliant!
I'm glad you're enjoying it (and I'm about to give up correctly typing that collection of letters myself). Rosie's bags are just another advantage to having a dog in your life. (And you didn't really think they'd be used, did you?)
DeleteWay too cool. I started eating persimmons when I was a young boy.
ReplyDeleteYou have many more years of coolness than I do, then.
DeleteYour Gumby is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly thinks so.
DeleteHahaha! In a poop bag! I love it. We're actually growing tomatillos now and I haven't the first idea how to harvest or actually use them unless they're in a can. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...sounds like an adventure! Google is a cook's best friend (well, short of a good, sharp knife).
DeleteI see Gumby upgraded his mount! Quite a fancy horse there, Gumby. Also my favorite breed.
ReplyDeleteWhen you started this series, you said it was in retaliation for the people that whine about seeing food on blogs. Not me. I always enjoy food shots. But between you and me, I'm getting a bit tired of hoof shots. I follow a lot of horsey blogs, and the trend seems to be to do your own trimming, and post pictures of it. Half the time, I'm thinking "dang, you need to fork over some $$$ and find yourself a good farrier"!
Hoof shots, huh? I suppose I could post pics of Rosie's paws. They are kind of cute... ;)
DeleteIt's so hilarious with Gumby because a quarter of the way into my RV adventures I realized I should have had a toy of sorts to photograph in the various places we visited. I used to follow a blog called "Olga the traveling bra" (you can Google for it) that was hilarious. It was all reported by the bra. Photos of the bra in various places and even with people who worked in perhaps the restaurant they visited, etc.
